Coloured glass for pearls is traded in transparent or opaque rods of about 1 m in length with a diameter of 0.5 cms. These rods are heated in a gas flame at a temperature of 900° to 1000° C and then wound around a steel stick which has previously been prepared with a special bead release. Thus beads of different size are created, each of them is a unique piece. The still hot and soft glass can be manipulated by rolling, pressing or adding other colours for dots or lines. In a special granulate the glass beads are then cooled down slowly, put into water and taken off the steel sticks. Finally they are cleaned with a small brush or a pipe cleaner.

Depending on the intended final look the beads are arranged on a wire or a nylon string.
The clasps I use are either self manufactured (hook and eye) or suitable industrial products.

My works (except the ear hangers) are marked with one bead next to the clasp which is imprinted with a „J“.

If you are interested in my work, do not hesitate to contact me. Any piece shown here may be produced in a colour you like. The time for delivery will be one to two weeks.
